François grew up in southwestern France's Périgord to the sound of local rock bands of the 90's. After high-school, he studied English and Japanese at Bordeaux Montaigne University for two years and Tourism & Hospitality Management at the University of Angers (MSc) and at Sheffield Hallam University (BSc Hon.). He also passed Cambridge University's Certificate of Proficiency in English with grade A.
For over ten years, his time was shared between hotel management work in Savoie and Périgord and travels to many places including Japan, China, Australia, the Middle-East, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, and a 6-month study trip to roughly 40 national or regional parks along the American and Canadian Rockies, Yukon, NWT and Alaska. His work in the hospitality business, his travels and, more importantly, the people he met along the way, have stoked a lasting desire to work with the English language.
In 2013, after the completion of his first big translation — a 352-page travel journal by a British journalist in Périgord, first published in 1894 and never-since translated — he decided to put his language skills at the service of individual, corporate and institutional clients.
An avid user of Squarespace since 2013, he decided to create aoia.io in 2017 to offer a comprehensive communication solution to businesses and organizations.
He now lives with his family in the heart of the the Loire valley vineyards near Saumur.
